Interview Tips — Starter’s Edition

The interest in India’s potential shown by global players is not a new thing, but in recent years and more specifically in recent months, there is a sense of a major shift in international marketing, production, and investment setup.

Interview Facing Tips

This means the competition will also heat up for those seeking some great places to work. One of the major factors in recruitment is always communication, one can get by if there is a gap in some other soft-skills, but for communication, the appearing candidate has to be fully ready.

Here are a few tips to smoothly get through in an interview.

  1. Read and re-read your resume. One BIG mistake we all do is not prepare according to what we have given in that printed paper. Avoid mentioning the points that you are not sure of if questioned, that you will be able to answer. Sometimes an interviewer may only be interested in your city, or college, or so, in this case, just revise your resume. Believe me, it helps.
  2. Have you done window shopping? We all have done it. Please avoid this in an interview. Study about the company, their products, their market growth, because that is expected almost in any interview. This shows your preparedness.
  3. Dress sensibly. While it is an unsaid protocol that good grooming and some good attire will off course impress the interviewer, but do not go overboard. Be sensible and look sober.
  4. Walls have ears and cameras. Carry yourself with grace and in a presentable manner in the waiting room, they might be observing your social behavior as well. Also, this will help you to keep your mind focused. The point here is not anxiety but being in a poised state.
  5. Learn about the most commonly asked questions in an interview. Like why should we hire you? or What is your goal for the next 5 years? or What are your strength and weakness?
  6. Finally, don’t forget to greet the panelists.
